That time I added Nyan Cat to the Couchbase Server rebalance command progress status...

The entropic joy of rebalancing — will it succeed this time or not ?

It's one of those great mysteries, whose failure makes for over half the effort in a given workday... Levity comes in unpredictable forms, and I sincerely think that one's duty in dealing with drab and disconcerting circumstances involves dispensing it in generous proportions.

Hence, that time that I hacked the node.py module of couchbase-cli to include the delightful nyanbar progress bar for the rebalance subcommand.

It gathered smiles and laughs; at least one person recommended that I include it as an actual Easter egg in the shipping utility.

Those were the days.
